Take a seat.
There are people among us who have lived long and well — and who, when asked the right questions in the right spirit, will tell you things that no book contains.
Jack Lack’s Listening Chair exists, in part, for exactly this: to sit with people who have reached later life with something worth saying, and to make sure it is heard.
The interviews gathered here are conversations, not performances. Each one follows a simple framework — a few anchor questions asked of everyone, and then the freedom to go wherever the person and their story need to go. There is no pressure toward conclusion or resolution. The chair simply holds the space.
If you are watching as someone who is approaching retirement, you may find here what preparation looks like from the other side. If you are already retired, you may find some scope to enhance your own retirement, some recognition — and perhaps the permission to say your own version of these things aloud.
If you are the kind of person who has a story worth telling, Jack Lack’s Listening Chair wants to hear it.
Jack Lack’s Listening Chair is always here, as is your welcome.
